September in review
Kinda late on this.
It dawned on me today in my chemistry lecture. I'm living my dream. I'm finally at university. This is what I've been waiting for my whole life. This is so cool.
Anyway, no huge surprises. Classes keep me busy, real busy, but I'm keeping up. I haven't really made any buddies so far, but that's no worry. I haven't joined as many clubs as I'd have liked, but I chalk that up to being late to sign up. I'm floor rep, so at least I'm somewhat involved.
Saugeen Maitland, as I discovered too late, is the party house, but I get along with my floormates. I have $2500 less from OSAP than I should. That scares me. Fortunately I know the source of the problem, so I have metaphorical ammo to fire in case things get ugly.
I'm at university. Squee.

Re: Memoirs of a Mustang
True talk. Also, I have far less from OSAP than I am supposed to also
I have no idea why.
Good idea doing September in review, I might do the same.

Entry 031: I need more energy, damnit!
7:30-Breakfast, more fruit bake and orange juice.
8:30-Physics, more on the second law. Pretty fun, actually. But I did not get the best of sleeps last night. I felt like shit.
9:30-Statics was cancelled. Cool.
10:30-No design studio. My team and I were supposed to meet at this time to hand in our report together (not necessary, but we felt like sharing the [virtually non-existent] burden, since one of our mates had already done so much for the whole team). But there was no statics, so we could not all meet. I trust that the original holder of the file went herself.
11:30-Napped for an hour. I felt stupendous.
1:30-Lunch, three (small & cheap) grilled cheese sandwiches. And chocolate milk. And three of my pickles. And a big chocolate cookie.
3:30-Chemistry, more on solutions.
4:30-Me and Abdel did schoolwork together. Pretty good time.
6:00-Dinner, a whitebun/bacon/cheddar/mozzarella/lettuce/tomato/onion/pickle/mayonnaise sandwich, an apple, chocolate milk and a big lemon shortbread cookie.
7:00-Not sure what I did. Probably just surfing.
9:00-Fencing. I learned a lot tonight. One of the instructors gave me a lot of tips one-on-one. I learned all about parries and ripostes, and even got to toy a bit with a sabre. I feel a lot more confident about fencing now.
11:10-I check my Western mail to find that the design studio was apparently on today at 1:30-3:30. What?
So I have a chemistry lab tomorrow. Joy.

Entry 032: Titration and relaxation
7:30-Breakfast, two pieces of french toast and a box of my orange juice. I tried going for apple juice at the cafeteria, and all I got was water.
8:30-Applemath, more on determinants. Good time.
9:30-Calculus, derivatives. It was chain rule and trigonometric derivatives, so I just busied myself with practice questions.
10:30-Chemistry lab #2, on titration. Went very well. Fun time. Lots of blanks to fill in.
1:30-Design lecture.
3:00-Lied down for a friggin nap. Abdel has left for the weekend.
4:30-Felt great after. Kinda grogged around my room a bit.
6:00-Dinner. My schedule today made me miss out on lunch, so I doubled up tonight: two beef flautuas, two apples, a double-sized chocolate milk, and two chocolate chip cookies. Delicious.
Rest of the night-Surfing. Did some online assignment questions. The floor's partying, but they're just doing the same old. Whatever. I tried going on Minecraft, but the server's not up, apparently. I also did some TF2 training.
Tomorrow is the day of my first midterm ever. Should be good.

Surprisingly empty streets.
Entry 033: Midterms begin. Kinda.
10:00-Wake up.
11:30-Brunch, two pieces of french toast, tater tots, watery orange juice, milk, philly cheesesteak, and an apple.
1:00-My first ever university midterm: microeconomics 1021A. Went great, only took 2/3 of the allotted time. But here's the weird thing; a bunch of doors for the building in which the rooms for this midterm are located were locked for no explicit reason. What gives?
And...that's it really. Didn't do much today. Dinner was a deli sandwich with a large chocolate milk and a peach yogurt. I handed in a chemistry lab report early, at 7:30. I did laundry at 11:30. Most students seem to have a bunch of midterms at around this time of the term, but mine don't really begin for about another two weeks. The only midterms I have around this time of October are my two economics half-courses. And they're my elective.

Still not getting 8hr sleeps.
Entry 034: Hm.
Even less eventful than yesterday. Got up around 10:40. Brunch of three double-sized sausages and goat-cheesed bruschetta and a double chocolate milk. Got an apple a few minutes later. Dinner was a deli sandwich on an onion bun with a double chocolate milk and two chocolate cookies.
The second building-executive meeting happened this week. I forgot until around 8:30, and when I got down for the meeting that (as I discovered) started at 8:00, it soon ended. I really need to be more punctual.
More of the same coming up.

Seriously, I want a goose.
Entry 035: No slowing down.
7:40-Woke up late. No breakfast.
8:30-Applemath, more on determinants.
9:30-Calculus, more on trigonometric derivatives and starting on the mean-value theorem.
10:30-Chemistry, more on acids and bases.
12:00-Lunch, chicken ciabatta with apple and choclate milk and garlic bread stick.
1:30-DesigSSSNNNKKKXXX. Actually, to be fair, the lecture was on all of the different parts involved in manufacturing, so it was pretty informative. He actually ended the lecture 35 minutes in, 15 minutes early.
2:30-Statics tutorial yeah no.
4:30-Macroeconomics. By Wendesay I will catch up. I kinda have to. Midterm's on that day.
6:00-Physics lab. It was actually a different lab than I was anticipating, so I ended up writing the pre-lab five minutes before the actual lab started (I almost completed it). The lab itself went well, but damn is it frustrating. There's more decimal places piled around than video games in Vyzor's bedroom.
9:00-Dinner, big pepperoni pizza slice with popcorn chicken, apple and chocolate milk.
10:00-Did some statics along with Abdel.
Monday's done. The week can only get better.

I go for 39 days without having cereal?
Entry 036: Macroeconomics looms over me.
7:30-Breakfast, FUCK YEAH!! FRUIT LOOPS!! and orange juice.
8:30-Physics. We started figuring out energy equations via calculus integration. This is the best rehash of old material I have ever experienced, easily.
9:30-Statics. The lecture actually went until 10:25. What the hell?
10:30-Applemath tutorial, stayed for one of the two hours to look through last week's quiz with the class. I got 90%. Sweet.
12:00-Lunch, chicken fajita with onions and green peppers inside, and chocolate milk. I had some of my pickles.
1:30-Calculus tutorial. Got a quiz back. I was anticipating a low mark, but I got 90%. Sweet.
2:30-Did some MasteringEngineering and MasteringPhysics with Abdel.
6:00-Dinner, ravioli with milk, and some of my baby carrots. I'm feeling sick. Shit.
7:00-Microeconomics, wonderful as usual.
9:00-Mix of online "work" (still stuck on a question in MasteringEngineering) and studying for the macroeconomics midterm tomorrow.
Today went well.

What were they doing sitting, anyway?
Entry 037: Macroeconomics midterm.
7:30-Breakfast, fruit bake and apple juice. The stuff with small berries isn't as good as the...other...stuff, I forget what fruit the other one had.
8:30-More determination in Applemath.
9:30-Implicit differentiation. Good time.
10:30-Chemistry, oxidation and reduction. Good time.
12:00-Lunch, chicken kabob with apple, chocolate milk and cookie.
1:30-More graphic-making in design. Actually pretty interesting. I find myself actually paying attention. But before that, I was walking to the building when I saw these geese around the area. I've seen them before, but not when they're sitting. The urge to pet and hug one grows ever stronger.
2:30-Surfing.
4:30-Macroeconomics midterm. Not as confident as in microeconomics, but I think I did well.
6:30-Dinner, cheese tortellini and fries, with chocolate milk.
7:00-Surfing.
10:15-Floor meeting. We tend to lose focus a lot. It's a blast.
At the end-MasteringEngineering. I still had a little bit to do, and that little bit pisses me off. I eventually gave up on the whole part, since it was due tonight.

Entry 038: An integral day.
7:45-Breakfast, four strips of bacon and two potato barrels, with orange juice.
8:30-Physics, more integration and derivation. This time we figured out work and power.
9:30-Statics, we've moved on to cross product. This course (which is a half course stretched out over the whole year, btw) has a tendency to reference Applemath at times, such as today. That's a shame for people who have Applemath next term. Like Abdel.
10:30-Design studio. Just working more on our first project. We need to design an object that will, in some way, improve household safety. My team is focussing on preventing burns from splashing water. Oh and we got our first report back. 92.5. Sweet (the average was 91%).
12:30-Surfing.
1:30-Lunch, grilled cheese with fries, an apple and chocolate milk.
2:00-Surfing.
3:30-Chemistry. We finished up acids&bases and started on gasses.
5:00-Surfing.
6:30-Dinner, stirfry and chocolate milk (3x my usual amount. Damn spice). I ended up going over my daily budget by $3. Crap.
7:30-Surfing.
9:00-Fencing. Mostly just matches with others. I feel like I'm getting better.
My cold's practically gone, and I have a chemistry lab tomorrow. Yep, week's almost over.

I could go as Zero! The one from Code Geass.
What do I go as for my Halloween floor party? I don't know what I can go as that doesn't suck or goes beyond my available resources.

Entry 039: A gassy mess
7:30-Breakfast, two pieces of french toasts with apple juice. I'm not having lunch or dinner here, so I suppose it's okay that I went overbudget last night.
8:30-Applemath, quick review on vectors'n'shit.
9:30-Calculus, moving on to antiderivatives. Now we're talking.
10:30-Chemistry lab, molar volume of nitrogen gas. I misheard that the lab was one hour shorter than usual; the TA actually said we should be able to do it in one less hour. So I rushed for nothing. Whatever.
1:30-And design. Real boring, more uninformative than usual.
And I left for my mom's at 2:30. I really need a good night's sleep.

TONIGHT! I GET! A GOOD! NIGHT'S! SLEEP!
Entry 040: The toilets smell like puke
Maitland is a mess. There's splatters of paint in Saugeen's stairwell, the 7th floor elevator hall reeks of...something...there's sunflower seeds all over the C-unit stairs, and there's Cheetos in the C-Upper hall corner. Look's like there was one hell of a party. And apparently the fire alarm was pulled one night at 3:00a.m. I could not have chosen a better weekend to leave.
7:30-Breakfast, bacon and tater tots, along with orange juice.
8:30-Applemath, vector spaces. Trippy.
9:30-Calculus, um...fuck I forget...um...shit...how did I forget this? Oh right! We talked about 1-1 functions. And inverses. And e^x. I think the professor's leading us into deriving lnx. Bitchin'.
10:30-Chemistry, delving into gas laws. I must say, I like the pace of this review.
12:00-Lunch, bowling over. Sweet crunchy chicken and vegetables on top of rice. With chocolate milk.
1:30-Design. I could hardly stay awake. We're on the third manufacturing lecture.
2:30-Surfing.
4:30-Macroeconomics. Oh, by the way, I got a 57.5% on the midterm. So that sucks. But now I think I'll be able to keep on track with the lecture material. Still no chance in hell of me being able to keep up with the note-taking.
Physics tutorial cancelled on account of impending midterm. So tonight was pretty lax. Dinner was a deli sandwich with chocolate milk and a vanilla yogurt. I studied a bit for tomorrow's calculus quiz, and I wrote a bit for my current chemistry lab.

Entry 041: But at what cost?
7:30-Breakfast, two pieces of french toast.
8:30-Physics, focussed on conservation of mechanical energy. Brings back good memories.
9:30-Statics. Cross product. It's weird how determinants make it make so much more sense.
10:30-Applemath tutorial. Boring, time to work on my chemistry lab! Left at the break.
12:30-Lunch, sausage on a bun with cheedar cheese on top, garlic breadstick, chips but they're made like french fries, chocolate milk, and a big tasty brownie.
1:30-Calculus quiz, went simply fabulously.
2:30-Surfing. Did some practice in MasteringEngineering. There's a midterm coming up Friday.
6:00-Dinner, deli sandwich.
7:00-Microeconomics, all about production costs. Off-topic, my online quizzes are kinda going downhill. Here's all my marks from the five quizzes I've done so far.
100%
90ish%
80ish%
70ish%
62ish%
That's in order. It's getting ridiculous. On the plus side, today I found that I got 83.7% on the microeconomics midterm. After class, I handed in my chemistry lab.
An hour or so ago, Aaron and Aleks (the two other engineers on the floor) came in to help Abdel with 1036A, Programming (I don;t have it until second semester). So that happened.
