MEMOIRS OF A MUSTANG: GRADE 14

This is just a start-up, no entries just yet. I move in on Friday morning, and classes start Monday. Just here to let you know, that the journal is back. There'll be classes, clubs, and meals. Oooohhhh, so many meals.

    Over and out.

Memoirs of a Mustang: Grade 14 Empty Prologue.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Sat 07 Sep 2013, 9:41 am

    From yesterday.

    Entry 000-1: Moving Day
9:00-Woke up and left Waterford with Mom for London.
10:30-Arrived at my new apartment. We moved in my furniture a few weeks ago, so there was only small packages to move in.

My roommate has a cat here. He is black, big, furry and awesome. He apparently also likes to pee on anything that's plastic on the floor. I keep my door closed.

1:30-Went to Subway for lunch with Mom.
2:30-Mom left, and Haley came home from work. I continued unpacking. Damn I have a lot of bags.
For the next few hours, Haley and I watched Community on Netflix, and I played some Infamous 2. It's been a while since I had the PS3.

8:00-Cooked myself a chicken burger and some bow-tie pasta, with an apple and Rolo milk to round it out.
Went to bed early, at 10:00; I don't have curtains, so I won't be able to sleep past 8 in the morning.

    This is gonna be good.

Memoirs of a Mustang: Grade 14 Empty My legs hurt like hell.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Sun 08 Sep 2013, 3:56 pm

    From yesterday.

Entry 000-2: Going for a jog
8:30-Woke up. Breakfast was a bagel with creamcheese and some orange juice.
1:00-Lunch, PB&J, cheddar cheese, no-name cheese-Ritz, a yogurt, an apple, white cheddar popcorn and a glass of Rolo milk.

3:00-Went jogging. I wanted to time myself on a commute to school. Turns out I can get there in half an hour. Then I went to Masonville to buy batteries. Got back at 5:30.

9:00-Dinner, pizza pockets, leftover bow-tie pasta and a carrot.

Sadly, I got no new ideas for Neo from my jog.

    Entry 000-3: It's Sunday
    9:00-Woke up.
Breakfast was the usual. Lunch was the usual. Dinner was chicken souvlaki, bow-tie pasta and a carrot, with Rolo milk.

I jogged some more in the evening, to campus. I have a class in the Physics/Astronomy Building this term. Tommorow I start classes. And I start the week with the busiest days. Good choice.

Memoirs of a Mustang: Grade 14 Empty FunBEE's not very Fun.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Mon 09 Sep 2013, 11:06 pm

Entry 001: First Day of School
7:00-Breakfast, a bagel with creamcheese and orange juice.
8:30-APPLMATH 2411, Calculus. Teacher was okay. Classes in general today were pretty insubstantial, being cut short and lacking any actual material. Class was over twenty minutes early. My next class was right across the hall. I had nothing to do.
9:30-CBE 2214A, Thermodynamics. Teacher was kinda bad. Quiet and stuttering. On the other hand, we actually had a lesson here.
10:30-CBE 2220A, (Chemical Process) Calculations. Teacher is pretty good.

11:00-Lunch, PB&J, cheddar cheese, no-name cheese-Ritz, a yogurt, an apple, white cheddar popcorn and a glass of Rolo milk.
11:30-CBE 2290A, Fundamentals of Biochemical and Environmental Engineering. Which, of course, is going to be shortened to FunBEE. Teacher isn't very good.

I kept trying to get my bus pass today, but the line was just too damn long.
1:30-ES 2211F, (Technical) Communications. This is, the way I see it, essentially an English course. And it may very well be my favourite lecture this entire term NAY, this entire year. The teacher is that good. This is a guy I want to listen to. He's up there with Hammond.

I usually have a lab after that, but y'know, first week. I went home and did nothing much else. Dinner was hot dogs, macaroni&cheese, and pickles with Rolo milk. Heart&Stroke called, asking for volunteers for their campaign in February. I volunteered. Then I paid a big tuition fee with my super-awesome OSAP.

The forum's not letting me upload my schedule. Don't know why. Whatever. The schedule's nice, compact. I like it. Not as much running around as last year.

    Good day. Good night.

Memoirs of a Mustang: Grade 14 Empty Did I inhale asbestos?

Entry 002: So Hot the Thermodynamics Professor Didn't Come to Class!
7:00-Breakfast, a bagel with creamcheese and orange juice.
8:30-CBE 2206, Organic Chemistry. We've got another bad professor here, and this lecture is two hours long. Thankfully this lecture was mostly review, and the professor himself admitted that this course is gonna be easy.
10:30-Processes, and another two-hour lecture. What the hell. The professor seems to agree. A lot was covered today. I have a feeling this is gonna be one of the harder courses.

12:30-Lunch, PB&J, cheddar cheese, no-name cheese-Ritz, a yogurt, an apple, white cheddar popcorn and a glass of Rolo milk. I spent the rest of the hourbreak exploring the underground of Western. There's this one tunnel that has no air conditioning and smelled kind of funny. There were dead cockroaches on the ground. I went through it twice.
    1:30-Thermodynamics.
    1:35-Professor hasn't showed up.
    1:40-Still no professor.
    1:45-I should probably go.
    1:55-Yeah I'm gonna leave.

HOOOOOOT HOTHOTHOTHOTHOT. Dinner was hot dogs, macaroni&cheese, and pickles with Rolo milk.

Memoirs of a Mustang: Grade 14 Empty I need textbooks.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Thu 12 Sep 2013, 1:20 am

Entry 003: Storm of the Semester.
7:00-Breakfast, a bagel with creamcheese and orange juice.
8:30-Calculus. We started on separable differential equations. We learned how to identify a hyperbola, and about Newton's Cooling Law.
10:30-Usually a tutorial here, but first week. I have a three-hour break, so I went back home.

11:30-Lunch, PB&J, cheddar cheese, no-name cheese-Ritz, a yogurt, an apple, white cheddar popcorn and a glass of Rolo milk.
12:30-A Communications tutorial that was way more fun than it had any right to be. It was rather laid-back. No actual work, just a small speaking exercise. We got into pairs and talked about the other student. After class I got my partner to be in my working group for the course.

    6:00-RAAAIIIN.
7:00-Haley and I went grocery shopping. All I needed was milk. Dinner was two souvlakis, the rest of the leftover macaroni&cheese, a carrot and Rolo milk.
    Rest of the night-RAINRAINRAINRAINRAIN.

Memoirs of a Mustang: Grade 14 Empty Don't ask.

    Entry 004: Coldwired
9:00-Breakfast, a bagel with creamcheese and orange juice.
10:30-Two-hour FunBEE lecture. Today was a lot better, since we had something to actually talk about. Cells.
1:30-Lunch, PB&J, cheddar cheese, no-name cheese-Ritz, a yogurt, an apple, white cheddar popcorn and a glass of Rolo milk.
7:00-Dinner, chicken burger with bow-tie pasta, a carrot and Rolo milk.

There's a fallen telephone wire by the sidewalk and a broken tree, presumably from yesterday's weather. It actually comes close to my head at a part of the curve. I look out for it.

It's so much cooler out now. It's so nice.

Memoirs of a Mustang: Grade 14 Empty That title is easily my greatest work ever.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Sat 14 Sep 2013, 5:23 pm

    From yesterday.

    Entry 005: Wall of Text
7:00-Breakfast, a bows of Honey Nut Cheeriois and orange juice. The cat has peed on the table. There is so much pee.
    8:30-Calculus, exponential models.
9:30-Thermodynamics, we looked at a bunch of thermal engines and refrigerators.
10:30-This is when I'll have Calculus tutorials during the year.

11:30-Lunch, PB&J, cheddar cheese, no-name cheese-Ritz, a yogurt, an apple, white cheddar popcorn and a glass of Rolo milk.
12:30-Organic. This professor has not gotten better. FunBEE got better. Thermodynamics got a little better. This class did not get better. It's just...this guy is awkward. SO AWKWARD.
1:30-Went to Target to buy curtains. They're not very good.

2:45-Looked around the bookstore for the textbooks I need for this semester. I only need four, but as it turns out, each one is priced at around $200. At first this flabbergasted me, but now I'm thinking that maybe these books will get reused next semester. I mean, some courses (2206 and 2207, 2290 and 2291) seem to work in pairs. So maybe I just won't have to buy any books for semester 2.
7:30-Dinner, pizza pockets with bow-tie pasta and Rolo milk.

I've completed my first week of year 2 university. Next week: CLUBS!!

4:00-Today I bought textbooks from the Book Store. I checked my spreadsheet, and I have just enough money to afford these books at the moment. It'll be nice, having a whole stack of fresh new books to use.

8:10-DAMN IT! I slept in! Breakfast was a bowl of Honey Nut Cheeriois and orange juice.
9:30-Thermodynamics. We talked about measurements and different kinds of systems.
    10:30-Processes. Did practice problems.
    11:30-FunBEE. Talked about nucleic acids.

12:30-Lunch, PB&J, cheddar cheese, no-name cheese-Ritz, a yogurt, an apple, white cheddar popcorn and a glass of milk.
1:30-This Communications course is so much fun. This professor is (tied for [with Hammond]) the best. This guy could talk about anything and it would be wonderful.

4:00-Picked up a lab manual I purchased yesterday.

    Entry 009: Clubs Week
7:10-Didn't sleep in! Breakfast was a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios and orange juice.
8:30-Organic. GGGGHHHH THIS PROFESSOR. It's like watching a Youtube video on a poor Internet connection, so the video keeps stopping and starting every second.
10:30-Processes. Did practice problems. And this two-hour lecture ended at 11:45. Okay.

12:00-Lunch, PB&J, cheddar cheese, no-name cheese-Ritz, a yogurt, an apple, Doritos and a glass of milk.
12:30-Clubs! I signed up for three: EGA (Electronic Gaming Association), WARP (Western Association of RolePlayers) and CWC (Creative Writing Club). I'm excited.
1:30-Thermodynamics. We talked about pressure in systems.

6:00-Ran to the store to buy some milk.

Memoirs of a Mustang: Grade 14 Empty FunBEE's a little fun.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Thu 19 Sep 2013, 11:27 pm

    Entry 011: Book Sale
7:10-Breakfast was a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios and orange juice.
8:30-Thermodynamics tutorial. They said it was mandatory from now on. I can say, with utmost certainty, that I could have lived a full, happy life without attending this tutorial this week. We learned how to use EES as we solved textbook problems. Problem is that the time spent on actually teaching the software amounted up to about 10 minutes of a two-hour period. The rest was spent teaching things like the importance...of interpolation...it was sort of a painful class.
10:30-FunBEE. A bit better. We're still on material we covered back at DCVI, nucleotides and DNA replication. Kason, you once said you felt that DCVI was a harder-than-average high school. I fully believe that theory. Chemistry and Physics1 last year, Organic and FunBEE this year. Entire courses feel like little more than review.

12:30-Engineering book sale. Didn't go that well. Brought four books to sell, only sold one (and only for $10 [I bought it last year for $20]). This sucks.
2:00-Lunch, PB&J, marble cheese, no-name cheese-Ritz, an apple, Doritos and a glass of milk.
7:00-Dinner, hot dogs with french fries, a carrot and chocolate milk.

Tomorrow I go to Waterford for the weekend. I'm going ziplining.

Memoirs of a Mustang: Grade 14 Empty Two weeks.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Sun 22 Sep 2013, 1:04 pm

    From Friday.

    Entry 012: Back Home
7:10-Breakfast was a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios and orange juice.
8:30-Calculus. We discussed applications for everything we've learned so far.
9:30-I thought I had Organic here. Nope, thermodynamics. And it's in an entirely different building.
9:40-Thermodynamics. We talked about energy, in all of its forms.
10:30-Calculus tutorial. No quiz, just review.

11:30-Ran back home to print off a graph for an assignment I need to hand in today.
12:30-Organic, talking about alkanes. Afterwards, I handed in a thermodynamics assignment.
2:00-Lunch, PB&J, marble cheese, no-name cheese-Ritz, an apple and a glass of milk.

Mom's here to pick me up. I'll be in Waterford for the weekend.

Of course I am. I sent you a text two weeks ago, when I started writing.

Anyway, ziplining was great. I'd do it again.

Memoirs of a Mustang: Grade 14 Empty I want my communications professor in all of my courses.

    Entry 013: Organic Lab
7:10-Breakfast was a bagel and orange juice.
    8:30-Calculus. More applications.
    9:30-Thermodynamics. More on energy.
    10:30-Processes.
    11:30-FunBEE. Talked about carbohydrates.

12:30-Lunch, PB&J, cheddar cheese, no-name cheese-Ritz, an apple and a glass of milk.
1:30-Communications. Talked about clarity, how to convey a topic clearly.
2:30-My first organic lab. Must say it was rather on-rails. We just boiled carbohydrates inside a flask and collected the separate chemicals. There were five of us in our group, and this lab could have easily been done with just one.

7:00-Dinner, hot dogs, french fries, a carrot and milk.

    Entry 014: FunBEE Lab
7:10-Breakfast was a bagel and orange juice.
    8:30-Organic. Cycloalkanes and bicyclic alkanes.
    10:30-PRocesses

12:30-Lunch, peanut butter sandwich cheddar cheese, no-name cheese-Ritz, an apple and milk.
1:30-Communications. Talked about clarity, how to convey a topic clearly.
2:30-My first FunBEE lab. We began growing bacteria in petri dishes. This lab will last four weeks. The medium we used to grow the bacteria smelt really bad. What is this Arga stuff?

7:00-Dinner, chicken burger whaaaaaaaaat, french fries, a carrot and milk. Okay, um, Haley put a package of tortillas on the mini-oven. Problem is, I didn't take them off when I turned it on. Twenty minutes later, half the package has melted onto the mini-oven. I managed to peel most of it off. I don't know what to do with the tortillas.

    Entry 015: I Missed Out
7:10-Breakfast was a bagel and orange juice.
    8:30-Calculus, second-order linear equations.
9:30-My first Processes tutorial. It's supposed to last two hours, according to my schedule. We barely got passed half an hour before the TA ran out of stuff to say. All there really was to cover was the small assignment we have to work on this week.
10:45-Got back home for lunch, peanut butter sandwich cheddar cheese, no-name cheese-Ritz, an apple and milk.

11:30-Well this is embarassing. I thought my Organic lab group and I scheduled a meeting today so that it would occur during my one-hour break, but we actually scheduled it on the first hour of Communications. I was told by my group to just go to class.
12:30-Communications. Talked about being concise. Yeah.

7:00-Dinner, frozen pizza and bow-tie pasta. The pizza was terribly undercooked.
    ...
I forgot to have a carrot and milk, damnit.
