Memoirs of a Mustang - Page 3 Empty What should my sig be now?

Post by Cephalo the Pod Tue 18 Sep 2012, 11:41 pm

    Entry 013: Pretty good
7:40-Slept in, but managed to get a shower in.

8:30-Physics was all about falling today. Nothing new.

9:30-Statics was just more force problems (got that introduction assignment done).

10:30-Usually I have an applemath tutorial, but that's not happening yet, so I went home for breakfast, a french toast sandwich filled with strawberry jam and creamcheese, covered in maple syrup and with a side drink of orange juice. Tasted as good as it sounds.

12:00-Lunch, a chicken kabob, an apple and chocolate milk.

1:30-No calculus tutorial this week. So surfing.

3:00-Went to financial aid to figure out why some of my OSAP seemed to be missing...oh boy. I ended up just asking the same questions over and over again and getting the same explanations. It's okay though, my head's cleared a lot since then and I feel more optomistic. Still, this hour and a half was not fun.

    4:30-Surfing.

5:40-Dinner, chicken kabob, and apple and chocolate milk.

    7:00-Microeconomics. Learning bunches of terms.

10:00-Studied a bit of calculus (specifically, complex numbers. Not very calculussy) with Abdel. Good thing too, I feel more confident about the subject.

Still haven't been to any clubs this week. Like, school clubs, not...whatever.

Memoirs of a Mustang - Page 3 Empty It felt good. It felt good!

Post by Cephalo the Pod Wed 19 Sep 2012, 11:08 pm

Entry 014: Getting into the swing of things
7:10-Breakfast, bacon and tater tots, with orange juice.

8:30-Linear algebra moved on to electrical circuitry. Informative.

9:30-Calculus wrapped up on complex numbers. I oughta look at all that again to clear up some things.

    10:30-Chemistry, more quantum numbers stuff.

11:30-Lunch, a bowl of rice topped with vegetables and sweet'n'sour pork (the stuff with the crispy coating), and chocolate milk.

    1:30-Design lecture. Whatever.

2:30-Met with my design team for the first time out of class. We laid down ground rules...sorta. We all agreed that it was too early to figure everything out.

    3:00-Surfing.

    4:30-Macroeconomics, a lot of information.

6:30-My dad dropped off a lab coat and safety glassesses for me. Then dinner, a salami/cheese/mayo sandwich on wheat bread from the deli, an apple, and chocolate milk.

7:30-Surfing and studying physics (just reading stuff I already did in high school).

10:15-Minor floor meeting. One of the topics was a notice that floor damages have already occurred, $350 for the card-reader to the study room to be exact. And all 35 of us have to pay.

I feel that I've really found my way around here. I don't check my map anymore, and I pretty much know my entire timetable. All I need now is to get social. And get a few more school items. And resolve an issue with my OSAP. Huh. Writing that all out makes me feel better. Really better. Really really better. I feel REALLY FUCKING GOO-

Memoirs of a Mustang - Page 3 Empty Having trouble finding places.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Fri 21 Sep 2012, 12:17 am

Entry 015: On the wrong side of the fencing
7:10-Breakfast, two chocolate chip muffins and apple juice.

8:30-Physics, moving on to motion in two dimensions. Whatever.

    9:30-Statics, resultant forces.

10:30-Design tutorial, where the teacher mostly just talked about generic design stuff. Not very fun. Although I did get to sit with my team. I have a feeling that design is going to be my most strenuous course. All this talk about a specific notebook for holding all our information on our projects is getting to me.

12:30-Lunch, big slice of pepperoni pizza, fries, an apple and milk.

    1:15-Blood donation, 7th time.

    3:30-Chemistry lecture, more quantum chemistry.

    4:30-Surfing.

6:30-Dinner, stir fry that was way over my budget.

7:30-Tried going to book store to get a few things, but they were already closes. Huh.

9:00-Fencing, or so I thought. Okay, here's the deal. There's two fencing things going on here: varsity for competition and club for surfing. I decided to go for club, since I'm new to the sport. So I find the group, and the head lady tells me I oughta wait until next week to actually participate so that I get my money's worth. What? Apparently I need to pay $40 in order to join for the next two days. And then there's something about a medical certificate from a physician, which also costs money.

10:00-So whatever, I'll just watch. And I have, for an hour, I decide to head home early and tell the head lady I'm leaving. Then we start saying goodbye, and I forgot how it was brought up, but apparently I was at varsity fencing the whole damn time. They just happen to have a meeting on the same day and time as the club. Fortunately, now I know where to go next time.

Tomorrow, chemistry tutorial, before heading to a parent for the first time.

Memoirs of a Mustang - Page 3 Empty Way more Christian clubs than seems necessary.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Sat 22 Sep 2012, 12:09 am

    Entry 016: First time back
7:10-Breakfast, two pieces of french toast and apple juice.

8:30-Applemath was good. Did stuff on polynomial interpolation. Pretty cool.

9:30-Calculus was just limits and first principle, nothing but high school review.

11:30-Lunch, chicken fingers, an apple and chocolate milk.

12:00-Went to the UCC for Clubs Week. I didn't have any cash on me, and the ATM's line was too long, so I couldn't pay to sign up for anything. But a few looked interesting. There was chess, creative writing, and electronic gaming (apparently their mainly multiplayer [including SSB]). So I have some choices.

    1:30-Generic design lecture.

2:30-Chemistry tutorial, had a quiz, went well.

5:30-And now I've left for my dad's house. I won't be doing a journal entry for tomorrow, so that I can have a count of how many days I'm actually at school. I go back Sunday morning to make it for Floor Rep Training.

Stay tuned next week, where I attempt to go to the right fencing club this time (and maybe a few other clubs).

Memoirs of a Mustang - Page 3 Empty I'd be so pissed off if I wasn't having as much fun.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Sun 23 Sep 2012, 11:18 pm

This is not a journal entry, but I feel like recording the fuckdrag that today has been.

    9:30-Back at Western.

10:00-Floor Rep Training (some other student leaders were there too). Bear in mind that I was told days before that this would go until 5:00, and apparently all a floor rep does is convey information between the whole building and their floor. So I was confused as to why we needed to be here for so long. And then we played drums for two hours.

    What the hell.

Yeah today was A) A lot of fun, and B) a huge waste of my time. I came back from my dad's early for this? Not to mention I have a microeconomics online quiz due today (that went realy okay though). About one hour of today was actually related to being a floor rep.

    5:00-Dinner, meatloaf and green beans.

Rest of the night-Wrote a microeconomics quiz (took, like, 15 minutes), and a physics assignment (about an hour), both online. Mostly surfing afterwards.

Also, I'm patenting the word fuckdrag.

Memoirs of a Mustang - Page 3 Empty Week 4 begins.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Mon 24 Sep 2012, 11:34 pm

Entry 017: Wound up and ready to go
7:30-Breakfast, bacon and hash browns, with apple juice. The orange juice has been too dilute for my taste.

    8:30-Linear algebra, matrix algebra.

    9:30-Calculus, more on limits.

    10:30-Chemistry, polyatomic ions.

11:30-Lunch, chicken souvlaki and vegetables wrapped up in pita, peas and chocolate milk. Then I bought a physics lab manual so that I could do the necessary 40-page read for the upcoming lab. That's today.

    1:30-Design.

2:30-Statics tutorial for two hours, but I leave half an hour to read the lab manual.

4:30-Macroeconomics. I really need to do a binge-read on my two economics courses to catch up.

6:00-Physics lab. Actually pretty easy. All about measurements, pretty simple. That said, the processes for measurement and recording everything are about as difficult as you could make them. All in all, went well.

9:30-Dinner, pepperoni pizza, an apple and chocolate milk.

    Today was a success.

I don't see what's so daring about that, but whatever.
Note 1: I only have one of the chemistry labs on every Friday.
Note 2: Physics tutorials take place during physics labs but take one hour less.
Note 3: Tutorials aren't inherently mandatory, but my math courses have the non-midterm/exam tests during these tutorials sometimes.
Note 4: The economics classes don't really have tutorials; 1022 just treats it as more lecture time, and 1021's lecture only goes a little bit longer than stated.

Memoirs of a Mustang - Page 3 Empty Typing in the dark while a faint piano plays. Fun.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Tue 25 Sep 2012, 11:06 pm

    Entry 018: Testing, testing, 1, 2...uh, that's it
7:30-Breakfast, more of that awesome fruit bake.

8:30-Physics, motion in two dimensions. Learning a bit faster now.

9:30-Statics, vectors in 3D. It was pretty cool.

10:30-My first applemath tutorial and quiz. I...don't think I did so hot. I only answered half the test. I think I've learned from my mistakes, though, so there's that.

12:30-Lunch, Sausage on bun with cheddar cheese, an apple, and chocolate milk.

    1:30-Calculus tutorialquiz, much better.

    3:00-Surfing.

    5:00-Got my chemistry lab manual.

5:40-Dinner, a deli sandwich (white bread, bacon, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, onions, pickles and mayonnaise. Bear in mind that this deli is open every day), an apple and chocolate milk.

    7:00-Microeconomics.

10:40-Neighbours of mine called me over for me to check the quiet classical music that was playing...somewhere. We concluded that it was from the floor beneath us.

Memoirs of a Mustang - Page 3 Empty A wild goose place.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Wed 26 Sep 2012, 11:52 pm

Entry 019: Everything going according to our design
7:30-Breakfast, sausage patty with cheese on an english muffin, and orange juice (seems to me that each juice machine's juice gets more diluted with use until refill. The orange juice is much sweeter now).

8:30-Applemath, more screwing around with matrices. This might have been my favourite course if I could just, understand, the teacher.

9:30-Calculus, more limits. Although he focused on some uncommon situatuons with limits, so this class today was pretty good.

10:30-Chemistry. I was so bored with all this review (he's not even applying hybrid orbitals yet!) that I did calculus homework while the professor talked. By the way, it's occurred to me today that I really am from I small town. There are geese everywhere, not afraid of you or anything, and I'm the only one excited. This is the second time I've seen flocks of geese waddling amongst the flow of students.

11:30-My mom visited with Subway for lunch. Got a whole bunch of new snacks. So I'm walking with my mom to get out of the building and to my next class (she's leaving), when one of my floormates comes by. It turns out she's from the same town that my parents lived in when they were in high school and met, Simcoe. And she has heard about Ron's nephew!

    1:30-Design.

2:30-My design team and I met to work on planning for our first project. We were legitimately productive.

3:30-Went back to residence to do...not much really. I had a class at 4:30, but I didn't feel like standing around waiting for then to come.

4:30-Macroeconomics. I'm behind with my notes so I don't want to write anything right now. It bores and irritates me.

7:00-Dinner, chicken wings with potato chips and an apple and chocolate milk and two chocolate chip/nut cookies.

    7:30-Surfing.

10:15-Short group meeting, then I wrote up some necessary stuff in my design notebook.

A satisfying day in the end. I still have some catching up to do, particularly in my economics courses.

Memoirs of a Mustang - Page 3 Empty Do the Wave!

Post by Cephalo the Pod Fri 28 Sep 2012, 1:09 am

    Entry 020: Fucking finally! Fencing!
7:30-Breakfast, fruit bake and orange juice.

    8:30-Physics, more 2D stuff.

9:30-Statics, more 3D stuff. Huh. Fitting.

10:30-Design studio. Got together with my team and did stuff. Good time. Productive.

12:30-Lunch, deli sandwich with apple, french fries and chocolate milk.

    1:00-Surfing.

    3:30-Chemistry, more polyatomic ions.

    4:30-Did laundry.

6:45-Dinner with my floor at the Wave, in the UCC. A $20 meal of burger, fries, chocolate milk and ice cream dish that got paid with my flex dollars. I'm not gonna be able to use the vending machine for a while.

9:00-Fencing was supposed to happen at the rec centre, but it ran 40 minutes late. And I ended up walking through an emergency door three times by the end of the night. Aside from those blunders, it was hella fun. We learned about the swords and movements. The teachers are great. I'm excited.

    Tomorrow, chemistry lab.

Yeah apparently guelph engs have a crazy schedule too. 40% drop-out rate too apparently. That's fucked.

Entry 021: The day that went really well
    From yesterday.

7:30-Breakfast, bacon and two chocolate chip muffins, with orange juice.

    8:30-Applemath, more matrix multiplication.

    9:30-Calculus, more limits.

10:30-The big event of the day, my first chemistry lab. So I got there at about 10:25, but no one's there so I think I'm at the wrong place. I look around a bit, come back at about 10:31. Everyone's there. Wat. Whatever, it went well. My lab partner's very driven, pushing me to work faster and more carefully. I have decided this is good.

1:30-Design test that was about as easy as I had anticipated.

2:30-Lunch, a philly cheesesteak, one of my apples and chocolate milk.

    3:00-Surfing.

    5:00-Laundry.

7:00-Dinner, chicken wings and apple with chocolate milk.

7:30-The C lounge (shared between Maitland's top three floors) played Superbad. Watched all but the first seven and a half minutes. Good time. Except only a few people were there and most of them left before it was even halfway finished.

Rest of the night-My floor was partying. I had two vodkashots. Felt nothing. Went to bed at 10:45 because everyone will be loud and waking up early tomorrow for Homecoming.

    1:45-Fire alarm. What a fuckdrag.

    Tomorrow, Homecoming.

I suppose this is what puts Western's academics in such high regard.
