Story idea:
Aliens arrive on Earth, and begin abducting humans. For what purpose? To keep as pets. These aliens are millennia more advanced than us, and they mostly capture the homeless and others living in poverty, akin to how we pick up strays from the street. The idea of this story is to portray the pet/owner relationship with the human in the other role.
The aliens have no malicious intent, taking good care of the humans they adopt and training them for their new habitat. But humans aren't used to being pets. A couple who have children aren't going to want to give them away, but an alien family can't look after another pet. And of course, there's always bad owners, people who shouldn't keep a pet.
What happens when the aliens don't want to kill us, but own us?

I wasn't really thinking slavery. The humans in this story would be treated better, but valued less. A slave is a human degraded to a working machine. But to come back to what Tyler was talking about. This doesn't sound like white guilt, more like Vyzor defending the cotton plantation owners. You confederate supporter! I bet you got your truck an ugly lift kit you dirty inbred fuck! The only way it would be white guilt is if you made it a point in the story for the aliens to be a real world race enslavement allegory. Otherwise the only other way to make this a white guilt story is to make all the white people evil while they treat the black people like shit. While simultaneously having all the black people be "Supper Jesus Buddha" the most pure sole in all the realities.

A little Yes to all three, I suppose. On a basic level, the humans get treated well. Think of how you treat your pet. They get food, water, shelter and recreation. They are looked after.
