For Americans, when life gives you a sour deal, you set up a cute little lemonade stand, smoosh up lemons, filter out pips, put some sugar in it, and sell a drink people apparently like?

But for the rest of the world, the point of “When life gives you lemons” is that when life gives you a sour deal, people will still expect you to do something vastly outside of your capabilities regardless. Because making carbonated lemonade is beyond the resources of most children. You’re enevitably doomed if you try.

Which means, holy shit Cave Johnson’s rant in Portal 2 must mean something completely different to Americans.

So in portal 2 you can hear the recordings of the long deceased Mad-Tycoon Cave Johnson, at some point he goes on this massive rant about how if life expects you to make lemonade, but all it’s bothered to give you is lemons you should, blow up life’s house. To non-American ears this was probably a man bitterly lashing out at people’s expectation of him when he and his staff were dying of moon poisoning,

But for Americans, that must have been a childish, nonsiquitor bitch-fit about how he didn’t feel like doing the reasonable thing within his capabilities.
