I should note that I've unlocked two endings so far. They're the earliest and easiest to get, so I'm not really done. I am on my way to the 3rd and 4th endings, the real good ones.
- Spoiler:
- Pag and go fought, vanquished and apprehended Taro Namatame and saved Nanako. Except Nanako's not doing too well. At all. She was in the hospital recovering for a few weeks. Meanwhile, the fog in Inaba continued around all this time. It was getting on everybody's nerves.
One day, Nanako's condition suddenly went to shit. The Team rushed over to the hospital to see her, but after some time passed, her heart stopped beating. Everybody got sad. Including me. All of a sudden, a thump could be heard in Namatame's room. The Team ran in to find him on the ground in a panic. Enraged by Nanako's death, they pondered the idea of throwing him into a TV and leaving him to die in the Midnight Channel. Here is where the endings drift apart.
ENDING #1: Pag talked everyone out of killing him. A bitter choice, yes, but NANAKO'S ALIVE!! SWEET!!!! As the game timeskipped from December 3 to March 21, Namatame confessed to his crimes, Pag returned to the city, Game Over.
ENDING #2: They killed Namatame. Nanako stayed dead. Everything else is the same.
As of now, in timeline #3, Pag and co. have decided to spare Namatame, as in #1. And Nanako came back, as in #1. The difference here is extra plot. Here the Team began to believe that maybe Namatame wasn't behind it all. And sure enough, once they got a chance to talk to him in the hospital, he explained himself.
Namatame only witnessed the first two deaths. He kidnapped later victims to protect them from the killer. He had no idea that the Midnight Channel was dangerous and that that was the true killer's method. He wasn't crazy when he said he was "saving" people; just ignorant. The group then needed to figure out who was responsible for the first two deaths. I was given a list of various characters who showed up through the game and had to deduce who was the true killer.
Sadly, I've had this spoiled for me. Read one too many spoilers on TVTropes. It's Adachi, Pag's uncle's "bumbling" partner. The Team confronted him with their accusations, and he fled from them, apparently into the Midnight Channel. They found him in the TV World, and HOLY SHIT DUDE DON'T MAKE THAT FACE. He revealed that the recent fog spell is due to the TV World leaking into the real world; soon Shadows will take over, and the TV World will be the new reality.
In the middle of all of this, Teddie had another existential crisis. He felt worthless, but his friends helped him to realize that his ownership of a Persona meant he must be human. Beautiful moment there.
A lot of story has happened. And now I'm in a new dungeon. I hate to have to put this game down.
