    Persona 4 Golden: Entry 12, 49:15 hours - Endgame
I should note that I've unlocked two endings so far. They're the earliest and easiest to get, so I'm not really done. I am on my way to the 3rd and 4th endings, the real good ones.
    Spoiler:
I beat the boss from the last entry. And it was sure met par for the course. I love the bosses in the game. Each one pushes me to formulate new methods. It's great.

A lot of story has happened. And now I'm in a new dungeon. I hate to have to put this game down.

I've just been touring the dungeon I'm in right now, beating all the monsters I can so that I'm ready for the boss.

Gah, I think I need to train more. And get some SP-healing items.

Persona 4 Golden: Entry 15, 57:54 hours - Training montage
I've been spending the past little while farming for experience so that my party stands a chance against this boss. My efforts bear promising fruit; each of my four characters gained almost 10 levels, and I took the latest boss down to 50% health. Only an easily-identified mistake on my part got me killed.

    Spoiler:
So, finally finally FINALLY, I beat the absolute true final boss. The story has officially wrapped up.

    Persona 4 Golden: COMPLETE!!!

I'll still be playing a NewGame+, try out a bunch of side-stuff I missed before. Now that I have a full grasp of the game, I'll be able to do more.

Oh, and now his name really is Pag. Pag Akio.

The Pod Plays - Page 2 Empty This is a thing now.

    Persona 4 Golden: Howbouthat?
This is kind of a review. Except not. I won't give a score, becuase I'm not confident enough in my experience with RPGs in general to give it a comparable value. This is my first Persona game, and my first Shin Megami Tensei game. I'll just say whether I enjoyed it or not.

I enjoyed this game. Like any RPG, it's easy to get underleveled and crushed by a boss before farming for two hours and greatly improving your chances. But if you're at the proper level, it's a fun challenge.

The gameplay is unique enough compared to what I've played before to make the purchase worthwhile. You have a party, as is the standard, but you yourself are kinda an amalgamation. There's a massive list of personas, and you can hold 8/10/12 at a time. You equip one persona at a time. Each one has different stats, attacks, and elemental resistances, but your protagonist has one health bar. If that reaches 0, Game Over. Each persona can only have 8 attacks, and there's a lot more than 8 moves in the game. This means you'll be making good use of the switching mechanic as you gain more options.

"One More!" was introduced in Persona 3. Landing a super-effective hit against an opponent who isn't already knocked down grants you one more attack. Hitting a knocked-down opponent can make them dizzy and miss a turn.

You know how in a typical Final Fantasy game all the bosses are immune to pretty much anything that isn't a straightforward attack? And you never need anything other than straightforward attacks against regular enemies? Well that changes in Persona 4...kinda. All bosses are still immune to all status conditions (I'm pretty sure), but lowering their attack, defense, and hit/dodge rate is still a perfectly viable option (and in later bosses, practically necessary).

Concise consensus? I enjoyed what this game had to offer.

The Pod Plays - Page 2 Empty Mythos.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Fri 15 Mar 2013, 10:53 am

I never mentioned this, but the demons in Shin Megami Tensei? All based off of mythological figures. From, like, absolutely everything. Remember Oberon and Titania? Those fairy royalty from A Midsummer Night's Dream? They're Personas. Anubis? A Persona. Hell, Persona 2 has a main villain based off of the Cthulu mythos. Crazy.

You can even play as Satan. Satan.
    And Beelzebub.
    And Baal Zebul
    And Lucifer.
    And Helel.

Although apparently Lucifer is actually different from Satan or something, I'm not sure. And Beelzebub and Baal Zebul aren't exactly Satan.

The Pod Plays - Page 2 Empty SMB.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Sat 25 May 2013, 11:48 pm

I played Super Meat Boy at Italyins's last week. He had unlocked up to world 4 of 6, so I did most of worlds 1 and 2, did a bit of 3, then plowed through the next three worlds, right up to the final boss. Didn't have time to beat it.

It's fantastic. Just pure platforming bliss. It's tough, but the game sets you up as quickly as you knock it down. And every level ends with a replay featuring all of your attempts at the level. It's kind of relieving. After screwing up so many times, you get to see all of your hard work right before you. And it's hilarious.

The Pod Plays - Page 2 Empty I'm gonna reach for the stars.

    This is from last night.

Sonic Colours: Entry 1, 1.5 hours - Colour me excited
A new series begins! Bought this with some birthday money, along with 2000 Wii points. I spent only $45 of $200, so I'm bound to buy more. Anyway, this game starts off pretty quick. There's not even any cutscenes before the first level.

The only Sonic game I've ever really played before this is Shadow the Hedgehog. And from the very little of Sonic internet games and S. Unleashed I've played, that one's not a very traditional game.

So far I've beaten the first world and some of the second. This feels a lot more like the Unleashed demo than it does Shadow. A lot of it is just running. Sometimes I feel like I'm not doing much. But the first boss was cool.

Super Mario Bros.: Entry 1 - Let's go
Today I decided to just warp all the way to the end of the game, see how quickly I could finish it. But then I died at only World 5. And then you have to start all over again. It's kind of brutal.

Mario controls more stiffly in this game than in newer ones. It's gotten me killed a lot.
