Re: The Pod Plays
Just wondering, how did you get metal gear solid 1? Was it just one of those psone classics on the playstation store?

Re: The Pod Plays
That is correct. And it's old enough of a Playstation game that Circle is still the "Yes" button.Vyzor wrote:Just wondering, how did you get metal gear solid 1? Was it just one of those psone classics on the playstation store?
2, 3, and Peace Walker were all bundled in a downloadable PS3 game.

Re: The Pod Plays
I really wish konami would have included MGS1 in that MGS collection they made like, 3 years ago. It's the only one of the main games that hasn't really gotten a proper rerelease

It's fucking wild.
I recently started a new file of Shin Megami Tensei IV.
So like in Persona 4, you can choose New Game+ to get some sweet bonuses. In Persona 4, you kept whatever money you ended with, as well as all of the Personas from your Compendium and access to all of the equipment options you unlocked from the store. All of the Personas and equipment are acceptable (for steep prices), even if the Personas are higher-leveled than you. This essentially makes at least the first half of New Game+ a breeze.
Shin Megami Tensei IV has something very similar. You get all of the money from your old file, a huge amount of App Points (if not all of the ones you collect from the old file) for the Burroughs mechanic, access to the Compendium (although the prices are a lot steeper), as well as all of your old equipment; you don't even need to buy it back like in Persona 4. But what's more, you have access to all of the spells your Player Character built up from the old file, as well as your Level.
That last part is pretty important, because it enables you two major things. First, you can FUSE demons that are at your absurdly high level right at the beginning of the game, if you don't feel like buying from the compendium. All you need to do is recruit low-level demons like usual.
The second major benefit becomes apparent whenever you finish a quest. You see, experience points earned by completing a quest scale relative to your level, matching the total amount you need to level up so that you can expect to level up about half the time you complete a quest. AND ALL OF YOUR DEMONS GET THAT EXACT SAME AMOUNT. What you potentially end up with is level 1-10 demons from the beginning of the game levelling up around 20 times from gaining 180,000 points at once.
And if you bought each of the five Apps that grant one bonus point to a specific stat for each Demon's level up, you can expect some major stat boosts.

This spell is a bag of dicks.
By the way, in SMT IV, when you cast Bufudyne (the SMT series equivalent to Blizzaga), it looks straight-up like a bunch of dicks. And, like, there's a precedent in the series for some demons to resemble naked women or to have bodies resembling penises, but the spell itself? Why?

What's the deal with SMT/Persona and having dongs everywhere? I'm not saying it's bad or anything, just kind of strange

It's of the TOWER ARCANA.
Well, Mara (the fabled Dick on a Chariot), at least, is, in actual Buddhist mythology (if I recall correctly) the enemy of Buddha (or something). He's sort of like the Buddhist devil, the ultimate tempter.Vyzor wrote:What's the deal with SMT/Persona and having dongs everywhere? I'm not saying it's bad or anything, just kind of strange
Him being an actual dick could represent his goal to tempt humans with, among other things, carnal desires.
Or something. I'm sure Team Atlas just gets a kick out of being vulgar.

Never see it coming
Yes, I do intend to get Persona 5.
I'm just waiting for my birthday, or until I get a job and can safely spend that $100 my uncle gave me for graduation.

Persona 5 looks like it could end up being better than 4. I like how the characters are at least seniors in high school

Persona 0.75? WHERE?!!
I've heard nothing but positive things about both Persona 5's gameplay and its story.Vyzor wrote:Persona 5 looks like it could end up being better than 4. I like how the characters are at least seniors in high school
No one going around saying "ehh, Persona 3/4 did that better".

Re: The Pod Plays
That's good to hear. It's nice that it's on PS4, but I wish Atlus would port it to the PC.
