Oh yeah, I played Shadow of the Colossus last year. Just as great as everyone else says it is. My favourite Colossus has got to be #15, the second last one. Least favourite was probably #4.

So I beat Shin Megami Tensei IV. Neutral Route. Wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be. Although I have read people saying it's quite a bit easier than previous games in the franchise.

SotC looks pretty cool but I have a feeling it will feel dated if I were to play it. Visually it looks REALLY ugly. (Note I mean the graphics, not the art style)

The Pod Plays - Page 5 Empty Justice is kinda just THERE.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Fri 26 Aug 2016, 10:55 pm

So the Kanto half of SoulSilver sure was a thing.

I went on to the S.S. Anne with Fool, Justice, Hanged Man, Aeon and Death (whom I had been levelling up in the Day Care). I quickly lost Death to a fucking Flareon on the boat. That was discouraging.

Not much incident after that. With some grinding, I managed to fight through the Kanto leaders.

    • I taught Fool Dig and Shadow Claw. He had no problem rolling through Lt. Surge's team. And then Erika had no chance later on. Sabrina was scarier, because Alakazam is a fucking beast.
    • I was an idiot and left Aeon in a battle with Janine's venomoth. It killed Aeon with one Signal Beam. That slowbro deserved better.
    • Hanged Man was great against Misty. My sheep will lead nations.
    • I left my dratini (named Jester) and rhyhorn (named Neil) in the Day Care for a long time. They're now on my main party. Jester did pretty well with Aqua Tail against Brock's pokemon, and Neil was unstoppable against Blaine. He beat a rapidash five levels above him.
    • Everyone (except Justice) helped out with Green. Fool ultimately met his end against Green's Macamp.

Now it's just Justice, Hanged Man, Jester and Neil against one final opponent; Red. They're all about level 60 right now, so I'll probably need to grind a bit. Gonna leave Star in the Day Care now that Aeon's gone, and eventually get a Steelix from Jasmine.

Here's who I caught in Kanto:

    • Red the meowth
    • Green the cubone
    • Blue the oddish
    • Yellow the murkrow
    • Gold the haunter
    • Silver the mawile
    • Crystal the quagsire
    • Ruby the jigglypuff
    • Sapphire the muk
    • Emerald the kabuto
    • Diamond the drowzee
    • Pearl the diglett
    • Platinum the nidorina
    • Black the noctowl
    • White the shinx
    • X the budew
    • Y the chingling
    • Z the wurmple (I know there's no Z game, but there fucking should have been)
    • Stadium the tangela
    • Colliseum the shellder
    • XD the psyduck
    • Revolution the lantern

The Pod Plays - Page 5 Empty I had GB Sounds on.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Thu 01 Sep 2016, 7:30 pm

So I beat Red with Jasmine's lv. 64 steelix.

Y'know how Red starts with Pikachu? It may be lv. 88, but it's not that strong. And it has a terrible match-up with steelix, even one 24 levels below it. All it could do was chip at Rusty with Iron Tail and Quick Attack. The A.I. never bothered to switch pokemon, and that would have ended me for sure.

So, while Pikachu spent dozens of turns hardly denting Rusty, I fed her dozens of stat boosters. Six X-Defends, six X-Sp. Def.s, six X-Attacks, and as many X-Speeds as I could get in before Pikachu died of hail. Rusty became unstoppable.

The blastoise was next. I had no idea if all of the X-Sp. Def.s would be enough to stand against it, because Steelix's base Special Defense is just that terrible. Luckily, Blastoise never hit with Focus Blast or Hydro Cannon, just Blizzard. Steelix just Crunch'd and Stone Edge'd away

The lapras went down in one Stone Edge, again, it just used Blizzard. Was it because of the hail? Was Red using the hail for 100%-accurate Blizzards?

Venusaur was a little frustrating, putting Rusty to sleep multiple times. Iron Tail took it down swiftly enough. Y'know, this started off as a bit of a joke. I mean, a lv. 64 steelix versus Red's entire team? Unbelievable. I was sure Red would have switched out Pikachu in the beginning.

The charizard went at Rusty with a Flare Blitz. A Fire-type Double Edge, super effective, used by a pokemon 20 levels higher. It took away about 30HP from Rusty. And then it got killed in one hit by Stone Edge.

Finally, the snorlax. The bane of my childhood Pokemon Gold playthrough. Easily the scariest of Red's pokemon. It did nothing but use Blizzard on Rusty. Cause of death: Iron Tail.

One deficiency in the A.I. turned the strongest pokemon trainer into a joke.

The Pod Plays - Page 5 Empty Those birthday games are really keeping me entertained.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Thu 15 Sep 2016, 9:14 pm

Started up Final Fantasy IX a while back.

MAN, the first hour of that game is NOT endearing. It starts off with a tutorial battle presumably featuring the main cast, and then just...cuts to this little kid trying to get into the play that the main cast(?) is performing.

And there's, like, very little indication on how to proceed. It's not like I have much personal motivation to get this five-year-old to go see a fucking play. Let me fight the Oppressive Government already!

    Steiner's a little funny, though.

and to Cephalo. I also hate tutorials but at least its only an hour. granted i hate playing through the opening to skyrim and its tutorial is only like a half hour. so that would piss me off if i were to play the game multiple times.
Also I cant be the only one who wants to pay a game where you play the roll of the oppressive regime and you get to shut down the rag tag group of fuck tards who would inevitably cause mass panic and destruction when the supreme force ruling over everyone is gone. just you know dont make the regime stupidly evil for no reason.

The Pod Plays - Page 5 Empty Man, I sure did write all of that.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Sun 20 Nov 2016, 12:38 am

So I watched Markiplier play an indie horror game called Sara is Missing and one small moment stood out to me.

The game is presented as an Alternate Reality Game with a cell-phone-like interface. It has a few glitchy scary-shit-popping-up-in-front-of-you moments, and I'm pretty sure it's all just other people's creepy drawings and videos because I recognized a few of them. One pf these clips was from Marble Hornets.Marble fucking Hornets.

Who thinks it's a good idea to...to plagiarize a segment of the most popular(?) Slenderman Mythos creation and try and scare people with it? Aside from being cheap and just friggin' rude, it definitely took me out of the experience. You can't fool me (even if I want to be fooled) into believing that this phone is haunted hy demons or some shit when it's literally copying moments from other stories.

It's like trying to run a haunted tour for your town and including a ghost story that ends with a hook on a car door. You're just...not fooling anyone.

Geez, that sounds fucking lame. Most horror games that are made nowadays pander to the 12 year-old minecraft audience anyways. I've noticed that they only really exist for the sake of being "let's play" fodder. Like, FNAF or Slender

The first time I saw the Persona 4 Golden logo, I thought the Player Character was just some secondary character in his mid-20s who just happened to hang out with the main cast.

Don't know. I do know that I am next-to-incapable of making it to Rob's for New Years, because Salari Christmas is the 30th.

I'm in Waterford for the whole break, not really going anywhere, so visiting St. Marys is mainly a matter of "Which means of transportation are available to me?".

I got Pokemon Sun for Christmas! And Moon! That's pretty neat. Got one for a file that I'll keep for ever and ever and never let my babies die, and one for whenever I feel like starting up a Nuzlocke.

7th gen's pretty cool. I don't even miss Gym Leader battles that much. Totem Pokemon are a fine replacement. And Alola is a great-looking region.

The Pod Plays - Page 5 Empty Unholy fuck.

Post by Cephalo the Pod Fri 13 Jan 2017, 8:52 pm

Gave my family, like, no ideas for Christmas presents, so I got a lot of Best Buy gift card money.

I mainly bought Playstation Store cards. I got myself Metal Gear Solids 1-3 (and Peace Walker), after getting myself Metal Gear Solid 4 back in 2015. I've got such a fucking backlog.

Bought Assassin's Creed and Fallout New Vegas with Christmas money from Grandma. Excited for those.

And I also went to the PS Store for...Dead Space. I don't know why I did that, it was a really stupid purchase. I am a total pansy when it comes to horror. I start up the game and it already feels like the creepiest parts of Metroid Prime times TEN.

I might have wasted 15 of those dollars.
