    Character Traits

    Konas
Overcomes: Konas is always trying to be something he is not just to try and make others proud of him or impress them. Throughout the story Konas learns that what is important is just being himself and doing what he wants to do.

Original motive: Wants to please his father by becoming a Valghrie knight and to do so his father tells him he has to go to the land below and stop the war.

    Axus
Overcomes: Axus is constantly being over-shadowed by his older, talented brother Jesu. Due to this, Axus has slight self-a-steem issues and sometimes a lack of confidence. Over the span of the story Axus learns that he can be just as amazing as Jesu if not better and grows confident.

Original motive: Just wants to be by Jesus side.

    Ampsith
Overcomes: Ampsith is a rough, aggressive being, but while traveling with the other boys he learns there is more to life than fighting. He learns what it truly means to love and appreciate things/people.

Original motive: Wants to get revenge on the west army for ravaging his homeland (which everyone thought the ampsith race was extinct) and taking survivors to enslave them.

    Phadel
Overcomes: Phadel, to say the least, has trouble with patience. Phadel is always expecting things to go and finish quickly and as he expects them to. Phadel learns to let things go at their own pace sometimes and accept some things the way they are.

Original motive: He is getting old and wants to do something exciting before he dies. Also wants to protect Sharkasia from harm and hates the west army.

    Zyvor
Overcomes: Zyvor comes from a tribe of Ninja-esque rogues who live apart from the city and town life. When Zyvor was a child, he was abandoned from his tribe and parents and because of this has a lack of faith in people, and at first does not trust the rest of the party members. By the end of the story he becomes best of friends with the party and learns again how important it is that he learns to trust people in order to grow and establish good relationships.

Original motive: Expecting great rewards from the east army when he gets the emerald back.

    Jesu

Jesu fosters a nearly unmanageable lust for power.

Sharkasia: Legend of the Wolfram Emerald (Revisited! [Again]) Empty Re: Sharkasia: Legend of the Wolfram Emerald (Revisited! [Again])

Post by TheCryptKeeper Mon 27 Aug 2012, 1:18 pm

    Plot
    Origin:

It is believe that in the beginning, the gods created the land. One continent was created by each god; Lux Mundi in the North-East, Umbra Mundi in the North-West, Centri Virtus (UD Zone) in the centre of the world, and Neutra Mundi in the South.

On each Lux and Umbra, a civilization was born from the will of the gods. Each race imbued with the mortal life energy that matched the essence of their land, light or shadow. On Neutra, the gods ran into a problem; shall they leave the land devoid of life, so as to satisfy the essence neutrality that lived in the land? Or shall they create a perfect balance of light and darkness, so as to also create neutrality? In the end, the gods decided to create life on this continent. So the gods created the Xaetus, a powerful race of the shadow, and Humans, a race of the light.

However, Baron is sceptical of this arrangement. He feels that this world will eventually upset the balance of Sharkasia. In response to this, the gods conclude to create a benevolent race, the Valgherie, as the arbiters of dispute on Neutra. These beings would reside on a floating island, Haven, high above the skies of Neutra. Virtus was where the gods themselves would reside, their physical energies combined and sealed into a single relic, so that they may watch over Sharkasia in the form of a stone, and not interfere with the actions of mortals.

The Wolfram (a tribe rich spiritually and economically) is a tribe native to Lux Mundi. While voyaging in pursuit of new land, The Wolfram discovered the middle continent of Virtus. Virtus was beautiful. Free of corruption, the true home of purity. At the center, lies the stone. The stone of the gods. The Wolfram quickly understood the power of the stone, and because of its eminent strength, they decided to reside on the continent of Virtus, to watch over stone forever and use its power to keep the peace of Sharkasia.

However, the stone began to corrupt the way of the Wolfram. They turned on one another. Thirsty for the power the stone held. Eventually, their entire colony was annihilated. Virtus turned into a desolate land devoid of purity, home to death. The stone remained. Completely unharmed. From that point on, the stone would be known as The Wolfram Emerald.

But of course, that's just all myth.

    Timeline

    Intro - Line 1
    - Axus & Jesu are two brothers living in an orphanage that resides in Sordom, capital city of the eastern region. Story opens with the orphan mother reading a story to the children of the orphanage, this story tells a brief history of Sharkasia involving the three countries and the legend of a sacred stone (wolfram emerald)

    - Cutscene continues with Axus and Jesu playing outside. (the boys are very young at this point) Jesu ties a red clothe around is neck to wear as a cape, and talks about how someday he wants to become a great hero.

    SEVERAL YEARS PASS

The ophanage that Axus and Jesu were brought up in is running low on food and supplies. Jesu and Axus are to the market everyday to buy and sell supplies/food for the orphanage. Jesu is tired of starving, of waking up cold in the night. He goes to a shop (some sort of pawn type shop) to sell his most prized possessions. What the shop pays is lackluster, Jesu feels that his valuables are worth more. The shop keeper then throws the boys from his store. As the boys get up off the ground, they are approached by Brooklyn, a well-known gangster from the underbelly of Swordom. He mentions that he heard of there troubles, and that he would be glad to help. However, this would come at a price. They would have to help him with something first.

Brooklyn sets the boys on a mission of robbery. There is some ethical turmoil and all that with Axus, but Jesu will do anything to bring food back home. Eventually, they accept the offer for help. Brokklyn has them infiltrate the sacred Shrine of the Wolfram, a hallowed and mystical temple set on a small island in the centre of swordom, surrounded by a small pond/lake. Brooklyn explains that authorities will be looking for him, so it will be easier for the boys to get in.

The boys travel to the temple. There is a publicly open section, a sort of cathedral type thing for prayer and the like. However, there is a secret door located behind the altar, which is vaguely know by brooklyn. The boys eventually find and open the door. They commence to traverse the labyrinth like dungeon located deeper in the temple. They will encounter various guardian fiends and dungeon fiends, such as rats, bats, perhaps enchanted armour. They will acquire various weapons (not a whole lot, maybe like some swords and shields, maybe some helmets). Eventually, after solving a mind-bending puzzle, the boys emerge into the treasure room. This room holds the kingdom's various treasures (heaps of gold, silver and jewelled items, such as goblets, helmets, fancy decor). Then suddenly, they will be sprung on by none other than brooklyn himself, who explains that he simply wanted them to find the way through, and that they are fools to have trusted a thug like himself. What a slimer!

A battle ensues, Brooklyn using his fists and throwing some scenery (gold and shiz). Near the end of this battle, Brooklyn hits Jesu aside, who is knocked aside into a heap of treasure, which collapses, spending a mountain of gold and silver cascading around Axus and Brooklyn. Axus pretty much spazzes (he shows his first shades of a darker, more angry and powerful Axus), and enters a premature sorta power focus mode. The falling mountains of treasure meanwhile, opened a path through the room that was before unnoticed. Jesu comes to as Axus is finishing Brooklyn (not killing him), but wakes up to an engrossing green light.

His eyes soak up the magnificent emerald glare, and he feels, and is consumed with an bloodthirsty lust for the power he is feeling. As he stares into the light, an object comes into focus at the apex of the terrific gleen; the shape of a palm sized gem, a pulsating emerald, placed on a beautiful marble pedestal.

As Jesu approaches the emerald, the entire temple begins to shake. Axus bursts in, yelling at Jesu to run. Jesu doesn't even flinch, he continues toward the emerald. Axus grabs him but Jesu acts as though he cannot even feel Axus. Axus pulls Jesu into cover to the far left of the pedestal, behind some caved in rubble. Only short moments later, they hear the sound of approaching men, yelling, calling that they've found 'it'. A troop of soldiers enter the chamber, clad in fierce armour and bearing the insignia of Nasivarr. Jesu remains idle and soulless, his stare fixated on the emerald. A soldier (spook), presumably the leader of the group, approaches the emerald, mutters some words of admiration, then reaches for and grabs the emerald.

At this, Jesu's silent trance is shattered, as he unwillingly and abruptly bounds out of his cover, yelling at the man with the emerald. As if the man could see out of the back of his head, he swiftly dodges and catches the charging boy in one arm. The cruel man threatens to kill Jesu, but then Axus bursts out of hiding as well, in a vain attempt to rescue Jesu. The man once again apprehends Axus with ease, and then, mysteriously, has a change of heart. He decides to take the boys back to Nasivarr, to work as slaves or something of the like.

The caravan of soldiers rides out of a distraught Swordom, meeting little resistance. There is a siege on the western part of the city happening right then, so with that diversion, infiltrating the temple was a simple task, as is exiting the city. However, entering the city from the east meant scaling the Great Cliffs of Mayn, and travelling through, and returning through the hallowed back-country of Appinsgot (a heavily forested and mountainous region infested with tons of dangerous creatures), and traversing the hideous swamps of the region.

After escaping the City lines of Sordom, the caravan takes to a deserted dirt road that heads south-west through the surrounding forest. The group of western soldiers are making good progress up until a wild pack of animals ambushes them. Out of the chaos, Jesu and Axus are given a chance to escape. All appears safe for the boys as they are escaping, but then one of the animals confronts the boys, it is at this point that an arrow flies in from the backdrop and strikes the animal down. The savour is Konas, and this is the first time the 3 boys meet. Konas feels it is his sworn duty tot protect the people of the land. With this, he accompanies the boys through the outskirts of the forest to the nearest settlement in Appinsgot.

Darn that does sound poopy. In mine we study 6 problems of philosophy: destiny, diabolic, doubt, death, dream, despair. Divinity, desire, and dualism were left out which is a shame because I totally wanted divinity over despair.
