Well one thing that the penny was a big help with was keeping the GST down. But now that the penny is gone the government now has a reason to raise the gst too 15% purchase cost, instead of 13% cause there isn't any normal way to get a transaction that doesn't end in a 5 or 0. So now that the penny is gone the taxes will go up.
So i guess the little guy was pretty helpful after all.
