Oh yeah, that's the one big issue I have with the game.

My top three games of all time (Super Metroid, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island) were all on the SNES.

I don't think Metroid Prime was good for my 10-year-old mentality. I still have nightmares every now and again of walking around in Tallon IV-esque landscapes. Seriously, that game is all-around eerie.

I could probably make a top 10 consisting of just creepy Prime moments.

Its so good to see the whole family together again enjoying a nice home-cooked meal.

New Super Mario Bros. success is what killed the Mario series.

It introduced that stock looking bland art style. Everything being buffered and smooth and it completely took away any other kind of look for any new main series Mario games. The style is cheap, lacks detail and rehashable. It is why Nintendo uses it over and over.

It also introduced, NOSTALGIA!!! They thought, "wow, instead of being original, let's go back to the basics forever! Let's never have to make anything original again! It'll save us money." They keep bringing back up things from old (better) games and shoving them in our face. Basically going "REMEMBER THIS AWESOME THING!?"

Another thing, all Mario games now follow it's shitty formula. Due to NSMB success, every Mario game after just takes everything from NSMB and puts it in. Grasslands, Beach, Jungle Swamp, Mountains, Snow, Desert and Bowser's generic Volcano themed level. These levels are in each Mario game from then on. All the generic enemies. They don't even make new enemies anymore. Remember how Super Mario Sunshine had TONS of new enemies?

Even a Mario RPG which was the only thing original and creative left of the Mario series has now been effected by the NSMB shitnado. The newest Paper Marios levels...ALL NSMB LEVELS. No party members, just fighting generic stock looking enemies from NSMB. At least Mario & Luigi Dream Team hasn't been affected. It actually looks original. Only good thing left about the Mario Series.

Everything else is cold.

couldn't agree more duncan. 3DLand was just NSMB in three dimensions. "WOAH THE FUCKIN RACCOON TAIL, I REMEMBER THAT"

no new enemies lately. galaxy 1 was the last original thing they did.

See this is what i'v been saying about the last few Legend of Zelda games. Think about it. Since The minish cap all of the handheld Zelda games have been done with Windwaker graphics. With the exception of Oot, but that was a remake so that's lazy. To top it off they even ported four swords adventure was ported to gameboy advance sp as well. That one also has windwaker style graphics. I dont care what bullshit they said about basing the last games (Which is also the worst non cdi Zelda console game too) art style after some painter. That shit just looked like the Wii failing to recreate the graphics of Windwaker. Keep in mind that im aware that character design is completely different between the two.

I actually kind of agree in that I'm not the biggest fan of SS art style.

Yea, I really would have rathered something that wasn't trying to be the cel shaded style...AGAIN. There are 6 Zelda games all in the WW art style. :/

Nintendo....Why. Get fuckin original again.

A good idea for them would be to take a brake from normality, for a while at least maybe 1 to 2 years. Give them time to try different stuff make new games that aren't based off of existing properties. So when they go back to normal they will have new ip's, and wont focus all there time and resources on the same things over, and over again. It seems to work for writers anyways.

I say let the guy who made the Old Boy movie, and the writer of lone wolf and cub as well as the highly acclaimed 10 out of ten stars Madbull 34 make the next few Mario games. For Legend of Zelda lets just get Kentaro Miura to do those. Wait let him finnish Berserk THan work on Zelda.
