Re: Pokémon
I have a good mystery, why does that page fucking exist. Those "mysteries" aren't even mysteries. Failure.

Review.
Good question. As for the releasing, you probably bring it out and free it physically.IGN wrote:What happens to Pokémon in the PC?
According to the Pokémon games, living creatures can be transferred into a computer, stored there, and then downloaded later. How? How?! How can a living thing be turned into data? I mean, is it still alive? What happens when you “release” it? Is that a nice way of saying “delete”? Do digitized monsters still get hungry? Is it like Tron in there or something? If so, whoa!
This is simply a clashing of gameplay and story.IGN wrote:How can a person Fly using a tiny Pidgey?
This isn't something that really needs to be figured out.IGN wrote:What's it like inside a Poké Ball?
Sure it does! Seriously, there are so many worse match-ups to criticize. This isn't worth it.IGN wrote:Why is Grass effective against Water?
The Pokémon type chart is so large now, not all of the matches are necessarily going to make the most sense… but this one is just a head-scratcher. You’d think Grass and Water would get along. Is it just that the grass absorbs the water? Is that why it’s super effective? Does the grass Pokemon literally suck the moisture from the water Pokemon, causing it physical damage? I guess that makes sense. No, wait. No. It doesn't.
Again, gameplay and story. Game Freak isn't going to bother designing a complete region with complete towns and complete buildings.IGN wrote:Where does your mom sleep?
Your home base in every Pokémon game always has two stories: your penthouse suite upstairs (complete with the latest Nintendo system) and the living room/kitchen downstairs. So where does your mom sleep? In the kitchen?! Way to be stuck in the 50’s, Pokémon universe.
...What is this? What the hell is this? You know, there's critiquing the details of a game universe, then there's just denial. When digletts evolve, they produce two more bodies. Plain and simple.IGN wrote:Isn't Dugtrio just three Diglett?
I totally love Dugtrio, but what the heck? How is it its own entry in the Pokédex? It’s just three Diglett hanging out! As far as we know, they’re not even connected. Even if they’re triplets who think alike, they’re still just three freaking Diglett. How has no Pokémon scientist figured that one out? What’s next, Pikatrio?
They're probably endangered.IGN wrote:Why can’t you catch starters in the wild?
To be fair, these uniformed nurses aren't exactly rendered in the highest quality. Although I will admit the pink-hair-thing is weird.IGN wrote:Why do all nurses look the same?
It's their job; they're testing the trainers. When you get the chance to rebattle them in some games, they're way stronger.IGN wrote:How did these terrible trainers become gym leaders?
Most gym leaders are completely terrible at their jobs. They should feel bad about it, but they don't. They're smug even. Is it that easy to become a gym leader that some folks can achieve that status with only two or three low level monsters? And way to ignore the most basic rule of team building by having only monsters of the same type. Genius. While we’re at it, who established the eight gym/Elite Four system used in all regions of the Pokémon world? Is it a corporation? A committee? Do you pay a fee and take a test? If so, that test should probably be harder.
I don't see all-magikarp teams that often. Do you?IGN wrote:Why do some trainers have six Magikarp in their party?
If there was only that one, crazy dude who filled his team with Magikarp, that would be one thing. Maybe he really likes the move Splash or is looking to a bright future surrounded by Gyarados. Whatever, to each their own. But multiple trainers across multiple regions have made this choice, and it makes no sense. They can’t attack, dude! At least try to avoid battles if you so enjoy the company of Magikarp. You’re throwing your Poké Dollars down the toilet! Which brings me to my next question...
...IGN wrote:Why do you get so much money for winning?
How much cash flow do these trainers have? Some of them are really young! Yet whenever they lose a battle - and considering some of the teams these people have, that must happen pretty often - they fork over hundreds or even thousands of dollars. And if your monster is holding an Amulet Coin, they even double the winnings. Why? Who enforces these rules? That’s some hardcore, high-stake gambling. And is that how gym leaders and the Elite 4 pay their rent? Wicked!
IT'S FUCKING YEN!!!
Gameplay and story. Also, people probably have a dynamic towards pokemon that's similar with our dynamic towards animals. Some are pets, others are food.IGN wrote:What do people eat in the Pokémon universe?
Are they all vegetarian, or... do they do the unthinkable? Do some people go Farfetch’d hunting? That’s wrong, folks. It's wrong! And is there a Miltank ranch somewhere where they all line up for the slaughter? I don’t remember passing through those towns on my journey to Victory Road.
I will admit, this is something I'd like to see addressed in the pokemon universe.IGN wrote:Why do some Pokémon look like inanimate objects?
Some animals evolve in such a way as to allow them to blend into their surroundings, to help protect them from predators or make it easier to catch prey. But that doesn’t explain why Vanillite looks exactly like an ice cream cone. Does life imitate culinary art? That just doesn't sound possible. It takes thousands of years for a species to evolve. So unless ice cream and waffle cones have been around that long, we have a definite impossibility here. Or is it all merely a coincidence? It can't be though. That's clearly a big ole ice cream cone.
When practically anyone can almost immediately submit a ten-foot monster into doing their every whim, survival doesn't really become an issue.IGN wrote:Is your mom insane, or just that cool?
For the most part, it's probably best when parents just back off and let their kids make decisions for themselves, ultimately allowing them to craft an identity of their own. But your parents in the Pokemon games let you battle monsters, travel the world, climb mountains, tromp through dangerous caves, and bust gangs at the age of, like, 10. Don’t get me wrong - that’s really cool. I wish that kind of stuff flew at my house growing up. But seriously, how did this become such a common practice?
Good question.IGN wrote:Where the heck are you?
What's the name of this planet? I get it has different regions - Hoenn, Johto, Unova, etc - but what's the collective world called? Is it merely an alternate reality version of Earth, with a few extra areas and none of the same creatures? That would sort of, kind of explain the GTS and that big globe in each Pokémon center. Sort of. In any case, you'd think that would be important information.
Good question, but nothing that can't be addressed with slightly more detailed biology.IGN wrote:How does a Spoink exist?
Okay, so you could do this all day, and for the most part its best to just enjoy the ride and suspend your disbelief when it comes to some of the more creative monster designs. But this one is really bothersome. Seriously, where does it keep it's organs? Does it really get around by bouncing on that spring? And wait… if it stops bouncing it dies?! So it never sleeps?! That’s sick! Darn you, cruel Pokemon world! Darn you, Arceus!
Good question, I guess.IGN wrote:So about Arceus being the “creator”_
Doesn't that make it sort of... wrong to capture it? How can you trap a god in a Poké Ball? If Arceus created man and man created Poké Ball… then, well, it just shouldn't work. It's a device created by one of its creations. Couldn't it simply unmake the Poké Ball or something? I know the Master Ball is a fine piece of Silph Co tech., but come on. Arceus created the universe!

Yea, why does this have its own thread lol. Unless this is meant to be Pokemon General Discussion, then its good.
My question is, what came first, Vanilluxe or Ice Cream?

First place.
Most likely Vanilluxe.Vyzor wrote:My question is, what came first, Vanilluxe or Ice Cream?
As IGN points out, evolution (the Darwin kind) is a slow process. Incredibly slow. It takes hundreds of thousands of years for any noticeable changes to appear in a species. Ice cream is (likely) a very recent human invention.

Re: Pokémon
Ok i just started Soul silver and if it stays as good as it is now then it might just be my favorite pokemon game.
Why ist it Pokemon has the little french thing above the e when it is a Japanese game. There is probably a simple explanation but I was always terrible at language based classes.

Re: Pokémon
But I think what Rory was saying was that Pokemon is a japanese game, and that accent is french. The Japanese usually don't make games geared towards the french lol.

Farenchu.
The reason's probably related to why the word anime also has the accent on the e.Italyins wrote:Ok i just started Soul silver and if it stays as good as it is now then it might just be my favorite pokemon game.

Re: Pokémon
Thats ok.
I was playing some more soul silver and realised there are a couple of characters in the game who speak french (minor unimportant ones.), so maybe there's a large french following?

Re: Pokémon
There's probably characters who speak other languages in there too. I know that there's a guy you can talk to who mentions how internationally traded pokemon retain their language for their name. Fourthgen really pushed their international aspects.Italyins wrote:Thats ok.

Re: Pokémon
Yeah that would be really sweet. They would definitely go crazy-mario party-esque on the mini games however.
Back to the conversation of French in pokemon, The whole feel and design of newer pokemon games have felt like they were trying to reach out to French culture, what's with that? Starting in 3rd gen. HGSS however pretty much broke the trend, but all the other characters totally look like french hipsters.

3rd gen = French runners
FR/LG = French girl
4th gen = French cool kids
HG/SS = French girl
The only reason HG/SS, and FR/LG didn't have french guys is because the guys used the old designs sort of.
5th gen didn't really look french lol
