OH YO. Earlier we planned for him to be a news kid, delivered the newspaper and shit and you could buy it to read news of stuff goin on around sharkasia. and everytime they saw him theyd be like "Hey, Rho!"

but then in a game that takes place waaaaay later it should say in books and shit and be a plot device that he was a great historian or something because he was servin up history every damn sunday in a newspaper. that's chill.

So, you guys wanna write the script for the text based game? Pitch ideas and what not for the story of it.

Are we still going with the prison setting? He can escape really quickly or something. Meet a few people first that he will see later on in the game

Yea I do like the idea of him in the prison. There's not much games that take place in a prison (or at least big portions)

A lot of stuff could happen while hes in the prison. The thought of it you would assume it's boring, but it can be very eventful with all the prisoners eventually setting up a plan to escape

lol brandon prison break is entirely different (and even less generic)

it's a good way to set up the guild feuds. it could be that the guy is in the prison because the other guild framed him or something and then his guild comes to break him out.
the game should be like.. kind of a mystery game or something, would fit good with textbased

There should be a character who was put in the prison by his own guild. He was very loyal to them and would hate all the people in the prison who opposed/were against his guild. But he is starting to hate his own guild for the treachery they have done to him. He would constantly defend his guild (ironic as he was thrown in the prison by them) but then loathe them for thinking he was a traitor.

Not to rain on your parade, but I will now share with you a collection of games that have or take place in a jail and or prison.

i didnt see the whole list but i dont think they counted the last three elder scrolls games that all start with you in prison or while you are captured by the Empire.

yeah but compared to how many games there are in total, that list isn't that big. a prison is a VERY archetypal setting. It's like people making WWII movies, most people aren't gonna be like "omg there are so many WWII movies why would you make another" because people like seeing that shit. and just the first part of the game would be in the prison, a game 'taking place' in a prison is a very loose requirement for most of the games on that list. look at black ops, its on the list. and amnesia (actually.. I don't think there is a prison in amnesia at all), as well as fight night champion and arkham city.

prisons are going to appear a lot in everything, it's the ONE place we have to send bad people in real life, it's essentially a real world representation of hell.
