Super Smash Bros. 4/5 - Page 4 Empty How many times have you ended up with a Hothead on a stage where you can't even use it properly?

    FFFFF.....yeaaaa.
    Okay, let's go in detail.

    SSB64:
    Capsules
    Crates
    Barrels
    Eggs

    Beam Swords
    Home-Run Bats
    Fans
    Star Rods
    Hammers

    Ray Guns
    Fire Flowers
    Star Rods

    Green Shells
    Red Shells
    Poke Balls
    Bob-ombs
    Motion Sensor Bombs
    Bumpers
    Starmen

    Maxim Tomatoes
    Heart Containers

And now for what Melee and Brawl added in and took out.

    Melee:
    Party balls
    Parasols
    Lip's Sticks
    Super Scopes
    Flippers
    Freezies
    Mr. Saturns
    Barrel Cannons
    Warp Stars
    Super Mushrooms
    Poison Mushrooms
    Screw Attacks
    Metal Boxes
    Bunny Hoods
    Cloaking Devices
    Food

    Bumpers

    Brawl:
    Rolling Crates
    Golden Hammers
    Cracker Launchers
    Bumpers again
    Gooey Bombs
    Pitfalls
    Soccer Balls
    Banana Peels
    Smart Bombs
    Uniras
    Smoke Balls
    Deku Nuts
    Hot Heads
    Springs
    Blast Boxes
    Frankin Badges
    Lightning Bolts
    Dragoons
    Superspicy Curry
    Timers
    Smash Balls
    Team Healers
    Assist Trophies

    Parasols
    Red Shells
    Flippers
    Barrel Cannons
    Cloaking Devices

SSB started with 21. Melee added 16 items and took out 1. Brawl added 23 (Sandbag not included) and took out 5.
All the items in the first two were good. Brawl isn't completely terrible, but it does feature several not-so-hot items. Like the smoke ball.

And honestly I hate assist trophies, the majority of them or so broken and annoying they're not even fun. Plus you can't even control when you use it? Come on. There brawl goes, taking more control away from us.

I actually enjoyed Assist Trophies, but I did not like Brawl's Poke-Ball-Pokemon. There's, like, Torchic...and Piplup...and FUCKING GARDEVOIR.
This requires a more in-depth analysis. Later.

Brawl took out a bunch of Melee's great new additions (two of the legendary beasts and two of the legendary birds, for instance), and the additions aren't exactly spectacular. In particular, Gardevoir and Munchlax hardly get any actual use when they're on the field. Plus, Kyogre and Groudon feel very lackluster. These are supposed to be titanic, age-old monsters who control entire regions' worth of weather; they act like a water gun and a hot stove.

They were great, weren't they. I remember them all the way back in SSB64 (when they were Beedrill). For a pokemon that is pathetic in its original gameplay, it kicks real ass. But yeah, SSB Wikia doesn't mention them in the Brawl lists at all, and I don't recall them being in Brawl either.

Ugh. I made that mistake with Brawl (and somewhat Melee, but that was just me during a time when I'd look up cheats for anything and everything).

    I thought,
The younger me wrote:Oh, I'll never get a Wii. That's preposterous. It's way too expensive. I already have a perfectly fine Gamecube.
So I looked up Brawl, everything about it. Because if I wasn't going to own it, I might as well see what I was missing out on. Then I got lots of money, and bought a Wii. So all the surprise was taken out when I got Brawl.

I remember SSB64, when I unlocked Jigglypuff and Captain Falcon for the first time. It was crazy, in a good way. Something that blew my-7, 8?-year-old mind.
The even younger me wrote:There's MORE?!
It's been so long since I've allowed myself to be surprised by unlockables.

Even now, I think that I'll never get a WiiU. But my whole life tells me that is a stupid assumption to make.

    So, probably not.

It's that smash bros games are in my top 2 most hyped games for anything, along with zelda. It would be nice to not look anything up about the next smash bros and be surprised like I would have been when I was a kid. But goddamn, it's so extremely hard not to. I think if theres a smash dojo....FUCK I can't even, I know I'll end up looking at shit on the smash dojo. It was that I looked up ALL the unlockables. Maybe I can limit myself only to trailers....maybe.

Problem is, what about everyone else? We're going to be on the Internet over the next five years that the WiiU is out. People are gonna talk about Super Smash Bros. Fray and Clash. And they're gonna know things we don't. If talk about Brawl is any indicator, people are pretty lax about talking about secret stuff. Know one warns whoever they're speaking to that the character they love to play as is a secret one. It's just to tedious to hide it all every single time.

We can run from Smash Dojo. But can we run from the world we stand on?
